See your match score & applyThe Regional Statistics Specialist will oversee the regional implementation of the Women Count programme, providing technical support and capacity development in gender statistics and SDGs monitoring. The role includes strategic engagement, partnership building, knowledge management, and contributing to monitoring and evaluation of results in the Latin America and Caribbean region.
Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the implementation of Making Every Woman and Girl Count at the regional level, including planning, budgeting, reporting, and monitoring.
- Provide substantive technical support to establish UN Women’s statistical work in the region, including strategic direction and positioning.
- Provide knowledge and capacity development services to UN Women offices and project/programme teams to strengthen capacities in gender statistics and SDGs monitoring.
- Lead and participate in UN Women’s strategic engagement at the regional level, including building partnerships and advocating for better gender data.
- Contribute to knowledge management and monitoring and evaluation of results, including producing guidance notes and codifying best practices.
- Perform other duties within their functional profile as necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organisation.
Requirements
- An Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in statistics, economics or a related field is required.
- A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- A project/programme management certification would be an added advantage.
- At least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in statistics.
- Experience in gender equality and women's empowerment is required.
- Experience working in the UN system is an asset.
- Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and spreadsheet and database packages, experience in handling of web-based management systems is required.
- Experience in the use of a modern web-based ERP System, preferably Oracle Cloud, is desirable.
- Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
- Knowledge of French or Portuguese is an asset.
- Knowledge of another official UN language is desirable (French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish).
