The consultant will support the implementation of the private sector pillar under the Jordan Chapter of the Surging Women’s Employment Flagship Initiative (SWEI), focusing on increasing decent employment opportunities for women through gender responsive workplaces and transformative partnerships with the private sector. The role involves managing partnerships, coordinating implementation, capacity building, and supporting national partners in advancing women's economic empowerment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the rollout and implementation of the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) components under the Jordan Chapter, focusing on Principles 2, 5, and 7.
  • Develop and manage roadmaps, annual workplans, implementation plans, and monitoring frameworks for the private sector pillar aligned with SWEI’s employment goal.
  • Build and manage strategic partnerships for women’s employment, workplace equality, and gender responsive procurement.
  • Coordinate day to day implementation with private sector companies, WEPs signatories, service providers, government counterparts, business associations, and relevant partners.
  • Develop and implement outreach and recruitment plans to expand WEPs signatories in Jordan, focusing on green economy, STEM, care economy, and medium to large companies.
  • Reactivate and sustain engagement with inactive and recent WEPs signatories through onboarding, follow up, and technical engagement.
  • Facilitate peer learning, networking, and business linkages among WEPs signatories to promote sustained engagement and private sector leadership.
  • Develop and adapt training materials for WEPs signatories on Principles 2, 5, and 7.
  • Design and coordinate trainings to support companies in institutionalizing gender responsive workplace policies and accountability practices.
  • Provide tailored advisory support to companies to develop and implement action plans for measurable progress in women’s employment and workplace equality.
  • Provide technical and coordination support to KACE for the National Gender Seal rollout and implementation.
  • Support development and refinement of tools, guidance, assessment approaches, and follow up mechanisms for Gender Seal implementation.
  • Facilitate linkages between Gender Seal process and WEPs advisory support, capacity building, monitoring, and recognition mechanisms.
  • Support coordination between Jordan Chapter and regional private sector initiatives for coherence in approaches and reporting.
  • Support preparation for the annual UN Women Arab States Private Sector Forum including company engagement and documentation of results.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in economics, international collaboration, social sciences, or other relevant fields is required.
  • A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • At least 5 years of progressively responsible work experience in development and implementation, monitoring, and reporting on programmes related to gender and the private sector is required.
  • Experience in the engagement of the private sector to serve women's economic empowerment in Jordan is required.
  • Experience in providing advisory support to the private sector on women’s economic empowerment is required.
  • Experience in providing capacity building to and coordinating with different national stakeholders including private sector partners, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) is required.
  • Experience working with the UN is desirable.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
