This internship supports the Travel Document and Client Services Section at the United Nations Office at Geneva. The intern will assist in designing, producing, and disseminating multimedia public information materials to improve client understanding and reduce application errors using digital and AI-assisted tools.

Responsibilities

  • Analyse current workflows and identify critical information and common pain points in client applications.
  • Consolidate, structure, and simplify existing content into coherent, user-centered information packages.
  • Design and produce multimedia materials such as infographics, short explainer videos, interactive guides, and visual workflows to support client understanding.
  • Utilize digital and AI-assisted tools (content generation, video editing, voiceover, visualization platforms) to enhance production efficiency and creativity.
  • Develop clear visual narratives guiding users step-by-step through application processes.
  • Support creation of interactive or semi-interactive formats (clickable PDFs, web-based guides, simple decision trees).
  • Assist in maintaining and updating the section’s intranet webpage ensuring content accuracy, accessibility, and visual consistency.
  • Collaborate with team members to validate content accuracy and align messaging with operational procedures.
  • Analyse common application errors and contribute to content improvements to reduce these issues.
  • Support testing and feedback collection on newly developed materials to refine usability and effectiveness.
  • Provide general support for ad-hoc communication, content, or administrative tasks as required.

Requirements

  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) or be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent).
  • Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.
  • A field of study closely related to the internship type is required.
  • Pursuing or completed degree in Media Production, Social Sciences, Information Technology or a related field.
  • Proficiency in using digital communication tools and platforms, leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools is desirable.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, professionally and effectively, both orally and in writing is desirable.
  • Experience and a portfolio in graphic design and animated or Artificial Intelligence (AI) video production are desirable.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of an additional United Nations official language is an asset (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish).
