Social Affairs Intern

Internship in the Social Development Division of ECLAC supporting social development and social policy research, focusing on early childhood development. Tasks include research, event scheduling, data processing, and supporting team activities.

Responsibilities

• Research quantitative, qualitative, institutional and official data on indicators and social protection, education, health and early childhood development policies, programmes and measures, and draft inputs related to social policy and public/government institutions.
• Gather and summarize research information on specific topics, particularly in social protection, education, health and early childhood development, including their institutional frameworks.
• Contribute and support activities such as the organization of seminars and expert meetings, producing briefs and presentations, under request.
• Work collaboratively with other members of the team; process statistical information.
• Contribute to update the content of databases and websites of the Social Development Division (on demand).

Requirements

• Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master's or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor's, Master's or Ph.D. Programme.
• A field of study closely related to the type of internship applied for is required.
• Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.
• Fluency in spoken and written English and Spanish are required for this internship.
• Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.
• Candidates for the UN Internship Programme are required to cover the cost of travel including visa, accommodation, health insurance and other living expenses for the duration of the internship.
