The Public Information Assistant supports the communication strategy of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund by creating communication products, managing social media, monitoring analytics, and assisting with content development for internal and external audiences. The role involves collaboration with various teams to ensure clear and effective dissemination of pension-related information.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating key communication products for the UNJSPF internal and external communication through research and drafting of basic text in English and French or Spanish.
  • Support the development and implementation of the UNJSPF social media strategy.
  • Monitor the success of website, intranet and social media posts based on analytics and review new tools and best practices in view of their implementation.
  • Monitor social media outlets on accounts and topics of interest to the Fund.
  • Support development of website’s automated translation service into UN official languages and layout updates working in collaboration with the Fund’s Information Management Systems Service and UNICC.
  • Develop monthly and annual communications reports with key communication data, metrics and findings.
  • Develop content for the UNJSPF intranet, including interviews with staff, summaries of meetings, updates on key projects and initiatives, contests and social activities.
  • Post news and update relevant web pages on the intranet.
  • Manage the UNJSPF Communications mailbox in accordance with standard operating procedure.
  • Support the development of presentations and other communication materials for the Chief Executive as required.
  • Ensure document management of communication team’s archive.
  • Assists with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making.
  • Assists with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in public communication, international broadcasting or related area is required.
  • The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to five (5) years for candidates who possess a first-level degree or higher.
  • Experience with developing graphic materials and visuals for websites, publications and/or social media platforms is required.
  • Experience with managing social media channels is required.
  • Experience with layout of publications in English and French is required.
  • Proficiency with or certification in desk publishing software is desirable.
  • Experience in international organizations is desirable.
  • 1 year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
  • English is required at UN Level II for reading, writing, listening and speaking.
  • French is desirable at UN Level II for reading, writing, listening and speaking.
