See your match score & applyThe Protocol Intern will support the UN Partnership and Financing Officer in engaging with government counterparts on protocol-related issues and assist the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office in providing inter-agency coordination support to the UN Country Team in Beijing. The internship is full-time, unpaid, and lasts six months.
Responsibilities
- Prepare draft Note Verbales to government counterparts, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in support of the discharge of mandates for the RCO, UNCT and RCO.
- Engage with government counterparts, under the guidance of the UN Partnership and Financing Officer, to tackle practical issues related to protocol, contributing to the implementation of the Cooperation Framework.
- Support the liaison with the UN Country Team in view of their requests for support from the RCO on protocol-related matters.
- Support the incoming high-level UN delegations, including providing both logistics and substantive support.
Requirements
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent).
- Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.
- A field of study closely related to the type of internship applied for is required.
- Applicants must have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
- Ability to demonstrate strong analytical skills, build strong relationships with clients and work independently.
- Ability to design surveys and draft documents is desirable.
- Candidates must be able to cover the cost of travel, visa, accommodation, health insurance, and other living expenses for the duration of the internship.
- Fluency in spoken and written English and Chinese is required.
