See your match score & applyThis internship position is located in the Performance and Analytics Section (PAS) of the Office of the Under-Secretary-General, Department of Operational Support (OUSG/DOS). The intern will support data gathering, analysis, statistical programming, and the preparation of reports and visualizations to aid organizational performance and transformation.
Responsibilities
- Gather and analyze data from various public (using web scraping) and internal sources, supporting data preparation, data models, and surveys.
- Perform statistical and/or mathematical programming to analyze data.
- Provide technical support for existing reports, dashboards, or other tools.
- Support team members with data cleaning from primary or secondary sources and maintain databases/data systems.
- Translate data results into written reports and data visualizations/presentations for stakeholders and leaders.
- Support data mining, optimization, metrics development, and predictive analysis.
- Contribute to the search for innovative data products and methods.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- Applicants must be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
- Open to a broad range of educational backgrounds including Computer Science, Economics, Statistics, Operations Research, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Visualization or Analytics.
- No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme.
- Training, education, advanced coursework or skills should benefit the United Nations during the internship.
- Fluency in English is required.
- For internships in the United States, persons who are not US citizens, permanent residents or on another non-immigrant status (such as F1 or J1 visa) must obtain a G4 visa and approved employment authorization (CPT/OPT/AT).
- Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations; costs for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
- Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization.
