See your match score & applyThe Environment and Development Division seeks an intern to support production of UN meeting reports and knowledge products from verified transcripts of intergovernmental meetings. The internship involves quality assurance, substantive research, editorial review, and knowledge management related to Asia-Pacific environment and development topics.
Responsibilities
- Perform quality assurance on meeting transcripts and reports, including proofreading, verification of speaker identifications against official rosters and programmes, and structured error and garble audits.
- Conduct substantive research and knowledge management on Asia-Pacific environment and development topics, including background notes, case studies, briefing material and agenda or thematic mapping.
- Support editorial review of draft reports against United Nations editorial and house style, and validate structured extractions such as country requests and thematic tags.
- Assist with organising and documenting the meeting-report knowledge base and supporting follow-up tasks.
Requirements
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) related to development studies, international relations, public policy, environmental policy, area studies, communications, or related disciplines; or be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent) related to development studies, international relations, public policy, environmental policy, area studies, communications, or related disciplines.
- Excellent written English and demonstrable editing or proofreading ability are required.
- Familiarity with United Nations processes, intergovernmental meetings, or Asia-Pacific development policy is desirable.
- Comfort working with spreadsheets and structured documents (Excel, Word) is required, and basic data literacy is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail, source-checking discipline, and reliability with repetitive verification tasks are essential.
- Interest in the responsible use of AI-assisted workflows is desirable.
- Familiarity with the responsible use of AI tools to improve work quality and efficiency, in line with UN guidelines, is desirable.
