The Investment Officer (Private Equity) supports the management and investment of the UNJSPF's private equity and real assets portfolio. The role involves portfolio monitoring, investment research, analysis, and contributing to investment recommendations to achieve optimal returns while managing risk.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Senior Investment Officer to manage and invest the Fund's assets in private equity and real assets markets balancing long-term strategic goals with short-term performance objectives.
  • Monitor portfolio holdings and conduct security analysis as directed.
  • Comply with risk control parameters to produce optimal investment returns avoiding undue risk.
  • Integrate Principles of Responsible Investments into investment analysis and monitor holdings.
  • Conduct periodic portfolio reviews and present findings in Portfolio Review Meetings.
  • Conduct portfolio analysis using risk and analytical tools.
  • Perform fundamental investment research through financial statements, market news, and other information.
  • Review investment research and discuss with strategists, economists, and security analysts.
  • Attend investment conferences and seminars to access academia and industry experts.
  • Assist in evaluating advice and recommendations from research providers and appraise external managers' performance.
  • Ensure Fund’s investment criteria of safety, profitability, liquidity, and convertibility are met.
  • Contribute to specific investment recommendations to achieve optimum performance.
  • Present and discuss investment recommendations with Senior Investment Officer.
  • Participate in discussions and development of asset allocation recommendations.
  • Assist in preparation of reports to the Representative of the Secretary-General and Director of OIM.
  • Assist Director of Investment Management Division in reporting to governing bodies.

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in Business and Administration (MBA), Finance, Economics or related field is required.
  • A first-level university degree in combination with additional two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation is desirable.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in (i) quantitative investment analysis, (ii) qualitative investment analysis, (iii) portfolio management, (iv) portfolio analytics, and (v) legal negotiations is required.
  • Investment experience working at a private equity or private credit investment firm is desirable.
  • Investment experience working at an Institutional Investor Organization such as Pension funds, Endowments, Foundations is desirable.
  • Investment experience working at an investment banking or consulting firm is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of financial modeling, financial statement analysis, and presentation creation.
  • Familiarity with valuation analysis and use of financial/informational tools such as Bloomberg, Pitchbook.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Power Point skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure accurately, efficiently, and effectively.
  • Highest level of integrity.
  • Ability to incorporate gender perspectives and ensure equal participation of women and men in all areas of work.
  • English language proficiency at UN Level II for reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
