Intern

This internship is in the Emerging Issues and Trends in Development Section, Division for Inclusive Social Development (DISD), Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA). The intern will assist with research, data collection, analysis, and organizing meetings related to social development issues focusing on poverty eradication, inequality reduction, social inclusion, and decent work.

Responsibilities

• Undertake literature reviews on relevant social development issues.
• Draft analytical inputs and syntheses of relevant materials.
• Assist with data collection, analysis and data visualization.
• Assist in organizing meetings and events, including contributing to background documents, notes and summaries, as required.
• Undertake other related tasks, as required.

Requirements

• Applicants must be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
• Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. Programme.
• Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.
• A field of study that is closely related to the type of internship applied for is required.
• Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.
• Knowledge of an additional official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is an advantage.
