See your match score & applyThis internship is located in the Division for Inclusive Social Development (DISD), Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA). The intern will contribute to social development analysis and research, including empirical research and analysis of trends and policy issues relevant to the Branch's mandate and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Responsibilities
- Conduct research and contribute to drafting written outputs, background papers, policy briefs, and analytical documents on inclusive social development issues relevant to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Doha Political Declaration of the Second World Summit for Social Development.
- Assist in the planning, organizing and servicing of technical and ad hoc expert group meetings; drafting reports and preparing summaries of meetings.
- Assist in organizing and participate in working groups, meetings, workshops, and consultations with other agencies and partners on social and economic development related matters.
- Assist in providing support to intergovernmental processes dealing with social development issues by preparing inputs for reports to intergovernmental bodies; following intergovernmental meetings and preparing summary reports; assisting in the organization of panels, round tables, and other meetings on social development issues for intergovernmental processes.
Requirements
- Applicants must be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
- Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. Programme.
- Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.
- A field of study closely related to the type of internship applied for is required.
- Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.
- Knowledge of an additional official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is an advantage.
