Intern

ESCWA supports evidence-based policies and regional collaboration on ageing and migration in the Arab region. The intern will research migration policies, support analytical and policy work on ageing and migration, and assist in preparations for meetings and events.

Responsibilities

• Research policies and laws on migration in the Arab region; scrutinize and summarize the information and populate it into the migration policies database.
• Provide substantive support to ESCWA’s analytical and policy work on ageing and migration in the Arab region.
• Support the substantive preparations for meetings and events, when required.

Requirements

• Applicants must be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent), or have graduated with a university degree.
• Applicants must be computer literate in standard software applications.
• Applicants must have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter.
• Applicants must have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, including willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
• No previous work experience is required for this job opening.
• Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
