See your match score & applyThis internship supports the Human Rights Officer in the implementation of the mandate on the realization of the right to development. Tasks include research, analysis, and preparation for meetings and workshops related to the right to development.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research and analysis on assigned topics related to the right to development, including international cooperation and solidarity, trade and investment, development finance.
- Prepare for and service meetings, seminars and workshops by compiling background materials, drafting presentations, meeting notes and summaries, and researching and inviting speakers and participants.
- Support the organization of the annual session of the Intergovernmental Working Group on the Right to Development, two annual sessions of the Expert Mechanism on the Right to Development, the annual Human Rights Council Social Forum, and other events throughout the year.
Requirements
- Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. Programme.
- Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.
- Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.
- Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.
- Applicants must provide proof of their academic status or degree.
- Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations.
- Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
- Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization.
