See your match score & applyThe Human Resource Intern will assist the Talent Acquisition Unit at the United Nations Office at Nairobi with data analysis, reporting, record-keeping, and various administrative tasks related to staff and non-staff recruitment. The internship is full-time, unpaid, and lasts for six months under direct supervision.
Responsibilities
- Generating, digitizing, and maintaining documentation for staff and non-staff recruitment.
- Collecting data from various sources, such as databases and spreadsheets, and ensuring its accuracy.
- Cleaning and transforming raw data for analysis purposes.
- Creating clear and easy-to-understand data visualizations like charts and graphs.
- Providing support for various activities, including creating memos, following up contracts, and official documents.
- Review non-staff files and records to identify those to be retained or destroyed based on established policies.
- Work closely with the Records Management Team to ensure compliance with organizational guidelines.
- Create detailed reports summarizing the review process and decisions made.
- Cross-reference files with organizational retention policies and legal compliance requirements.
- Suggest improvements to the current filing and records review process based on observations.
- Prepare a brief report or presentation on findings and recommendations at the end of the internship.
- Document workflows and propose enhancements for future efficiency.
- Collaborating in the design and improvement of archives and records keeping.
- Contributing to the enhancement of archives and records keeping for team documents.
- Undertake tasks related to creation, organization, indexing, storage, retention and disposal of records.
- Performing other assigned duties as needed.
Requirements
- Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent), or have graduated with Bachelor's degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent.
- Be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Have demonstrated a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
- Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, including willingness to understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
- Preferred areas of study: Undergraduate studies in Computer Sciences, Human Resources, Business Administration or related field.
- Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.
- Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme.
- Fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is desirable.
