GIS and Renewable Energy Data Analyst

The GIS and Renewable Energy Data Analyst will review and improve solar PV datasets for ESCWA member States, integrate socio-economic GIS layers, and produce geospatial analytical products to support climate policy action and socio-economic resilience. The role involves data quality assessment, statistical analysis, and reporting under the supervision of the Climate Change and Natural Resources Sustainability Cluster.

Responsibilities

• Review and assess the existing geospatial datasets of detected solar PV systems in Djibouti, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen to identify inconsistencies, data gaps, duplicates, quality issues, and potential sources of uncertainty.
• Conduct a comprehensive review of the existing solar PV geospatial datasets, including an assessment of data quality, completeness, spatial accuracy, attribute consistency, metadata availability, and reliability.
• Prepare a comprehensive final technical report and presentation summarizing the methodology applied, improvements made to the datasets, analytical findings, limitations, and recommendations for future updates.

Requirements

• A master’s degree in statistics, mathematics, GIS or related field is required.
• A first-level university degree with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
• All candidates must submit a copy of the required educational degree.
• Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
• A minimum of five years of experience working on data analytics related to energy or renewable energy is required.
• Demonstrated professional experience working on energy datasets is required.
• Fluency in English is required.
• Knowledge of Arabic is desirable.
