Full-Stack Java-React Developer

The Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT) of the United Nations is leading the digital transformation of the Organization through secure, reliable, and innovative technology solutions. This position involves development, programming, testing, debugging, and implementation of new applications with Geospatial and/or AI components using Java and React, as well as providing application support and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Participates in the development, programming, testing, debugging and implementation of new applications with a Geospatial and/or AI components, using UN established standards like Java and React.
• Prepares technical and user documentation for deployed applications, as well as training materials and conducts technical presentations.
• Provides support for deployed applications including version management and troubleshooting; performs ongoing reviews with users and developers and responds to users requests.
• Keeps abreast of developments in the field; performs benchmarking and proposes new tools and libraries.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in computer science, information systems, mathematics, statistics, or related field.
• A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
• A minimum of 2 years hands-on experience building web applications with React and Java is required.
• A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience using JavaScript/TypeScript is required.
• A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience using Java is required.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with SQL and REST API is required.
• Experience with Azure Functions is desirable.
• Experience with AI and GIS is desirable.
• Ability to travel abroad for projects is desirable.
