Expert on Inclusive Insurance and Social Protection Mechanisms With experience in Latin America

The consultant will design nano-insurance schemes suitable for Egypt, leveraging Latin American experiences to extend social protection to women in informal employment. The role involves collaboration with ESCWA, GIZ, and national stakeholders to develop, present, and support implementation of innovative social protection mechanisms.

Responsibilities

• Identify one or more nano-insurance scheme options adapted to the Egyptian context based on review and stakeholder discussions.
• Provide actuary with design-related inputs for preliminary costing including target groups, benefit structures, payment channels, and operational assumptions.
• Present proposed scheme options and findings to Egyptian institutions and support technical discussions.
• Support drafting a short action plan outlining next steps for testing and refining nano-insurance options tailored to Egypt’s institutional and policy landscape.
• Attend scheduled and ad-hoc meetings with ESCWA, GIZ and national stakeholders to receive inputs and feedback.

Requirements

• A master’s degree in development studies, Public Policy, Economics, or a related area is required.
• A Ph.D. is desirable.
• All candidates must submit a copy of the required educational degree.
• Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
• A minimum of 12 years of professional work experience in the inclusive finance and insurance sector, social protection, or related fields is required.
• At least 5 years of experience in the design, implementation, or advisory support of insurance, financial inclusion and/or social protection policies, programmes, or strategies in middle-income countries is required.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience working with government institutions or public agencies on social protection development is required.
• Experience working in Latin America is desirable.
• Fluency in English is required.
