DRIVER, G3

The incumbent is responsible for safely driving vehicles to transport authorized personnel and goods, making deliveries, minor purchases, vehicle maintenance, and assisting with data collection and information material updates. The position supports the United Nations Resident Coordination Office in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.

Responsibilities

• Drives vehicles safely for the transport of authorized personnel and, in the case of Peacekeeping missions, for the transport of general cargo goods and/or specialized hazardous good vehicles.
• Makes regular deliveries of parcels, documents, etc., between the UN office and other offices and institutions, e.g. Ministries, Embassies, Permanent Missions, etc.
• Makes minor purchases and collects urgent purchases from local suppliers as requested. Collects goods from the customs with due regard to customs regulations and formalities. May make or collect payment for goods.
• Meets official personnel at the airport and facilitates immigration and customs formalities as required.
• Deals effectively and tactfully with officials and visitors.
• Takes care of the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicles, checks oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc.; performs minor repairs and arranges for other repairs and ensures that the vehicle is kept clean.
• Logs official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, greasing, etc.
• Ensures that the steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in an accident.
• Applies good judgment in the context of assignments given.
• Assists with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making.
• Assists with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is required. Relevant first-level university degree may be accepted in lieu of two years of required experience.
• A valid National Driver's License is required.
• A minimum of two (2) years of progressive responsible experience as a driver with a safe driving record is required.
• Experience in driving a variety of makes and models of vehicles, including vans and other kinds of motorized vehicles is required.
• Experience with the United Nations or any International organizations is desirable.
• English is required at UN Level II for reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
• Spanish is required at UN Level III for reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
• French is desirable at UN Level I for reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
