To carry out driving assignments in a safe and timely manner. Use discretion, initiative and judgment in planning and scheduling routes. Comply with the UN standard of road safety, security, safety of personnel, and use of UN vehicles while performing ground transportation services.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate vehicles to transport authorized personnel, materials, and general cargo in accordance with organizational policies and local traffic regulations.
  • Deliver and collect parcels, correspondence, documents, and other items between the office and external stakeholders, including government ministries, embassies, vendors, and partner institutions.
  • Receive and escort official personnel and visitors, including providing airport pickup and drop-off services when necessary.
  • Maintain professional, courteous, and effective communication with officials, visitors, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct routine vehicle inspections and preventive maintenance, including checking oil, coolant, battery, brakes, tires, and other essential components.
  • Perform minor vehicle repairs and coordinate servicing and major repairs to ensure vehicles remain in safe and operational condition.
  • Ensure assigned vehicles are clean, presentable, and properly equipped at all times.
  • Provide VIP transportation services and standby driver support as required.
  • Promptly report any vehicle damage, accidents, incidents, or loss of vehicle equipment and tools.
  • Maintain accurate records of fuel consumption, mileage, maintenance activities, repairs, and other vehicle-related logs.
  • Ensure all required organizational, legal, and insurance procedures are followed in the event of an accident or vehicle-related incident.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned in support of operational requirements.

Requirements

  • A valid driving license with a safe driving record is required.
  • Technical certifications in road safety, defensive driving, first aid, and/or Colombian transport regulations are desirable.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the provision of professional driver services is required.
  • Experience in operating a wide range of vehicle types is required, including light passenger vehicles, sedans, heavy and light 4x4 sport utility vehicles (SUVs), ambulances, pick-up trucks, cargo vans, and passenger vans is required.
  • Experience in driving armoured vehicles is desirable.
  • Relevant experience within the United Nations common system or other comparable international organizations is desirable.
  • Fluency in Spanish is required, and knowledge of English is desirable.
