See your match score & applyThis internship position is located in the Debt Management and Financial Analysis Programme (DMFAS) of the Debt and Development Finance Branch. The intern will assist in preparatory work for the 15th Debt Management Conference and DMFAS Programme Advisory Group, providing administrative, logistical, and research support. The internship may be held in-person or remotely.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Conference team members in preparatory work for the 15th Debt Management Conference and DMFAS Programme Advisory Group.
- Assist in overall administrative and logistical activities for the conference including maintaining invitation and registration lists, responding to simple requests for information, helping participants with travel preparation, assisting in logistical and visa requirements, liaising with resource persons and participants, preparing documentation, and proofreading presentation slides.
- Support the Project Management Unit (PMU) of the DMFAS Programme by conducting research on public debt management, public finance, and country-specific debt related issues using UNCTAD and UNOG library facilities and the Internet.
- Complete any internship research and reporting work required by the university.
- Observe all applicable UN rules, regulations, instructions, procedures and directives.
- Provide the receiving departments/offices with copies of all materials prepared during the internship and assist in securing property rights for the UN as required.
- Respect the impartiality and independence required of the UN and not accept instructions from any external authority regarding services performed under the internship.
- Refrain from communicating any non-public information to external sources without authorization and not use such information for personal gain.
- Refrain from any conduct that would adversely reflect on the UN or the receiving department/office and avoid activities incompatible with the aims and objectives of the UN.
Requirements
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
- Should be computer literate in standard software applications.
- Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
- Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, including willingness to understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
- No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme.
- A field of study closely related to the type of internship applied for is required.
- Fluency written and spoken in English is required.
- Knowledge of French and/or Spanish languages is desirable.
- For in-person internships, interns must have a valid visa and cover all costs of travel, accommodation, medical insurance and living expenses.
- For remote internships, the applicant must have full access to a computer with a modern browser and Office 365 applications, with basic IT security best practices implemented including latest Windows OS and updates, enabled software firewall, and password manager enabled.
