Communication Specialist Intern

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) is seeking a Communication Specialist Intern to support humanitarian engagement and communications activities in Kuwait. The intern will assist in developing communication products, planning events, disseminating social media material, coordinating meetings, drafting reports, and performing administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

• Support the development of communication products on humanitarian needs targeting specific audience.
• Assist in the planning of events organized / co-organized by OCHA in Kuwait.
• Develop and disseminate social media material on OCHA-Kuwait partnerships.
• Support in coordinating meetings and consultations with partners in the country.
• Draft summaries, meeting minutes and reports.
• Perform any other administrative work as required.

Requirements

• Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) in communication and media or other related fields.
• Or be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in communication and media.
• Applicants to the UN Internship Program are not required to have professional work experience.
• Experience in Communications and media, or other related field is desirable.
• Good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Teams required.
• Ability to draft news articles and/or social media posts is desirable.
• Ability to design surveys and polls is desirable.
• Fluency in reading, speaking, understanding and writing in English and Arabic is required.
