See your match score & applyThe Chief of Section, Supply is responsible for the overall management of technical and logistical support to all mission components by planning, coordinating and delivering supply services including management of staff and budgetary resources. The incumbent leads and guides diverse work groups towards achieving program objectives within the United Nations Support Office in Haiti (UNSOH).
Responsibilities
- Manages supply and related service issues affecting the field mission, including managing, coordinating and supervising the General Supply Unit, Rations Unit, Fuel Unit and Supply warehouse operations.
- Formulates and oversees supply support and supplies required by the field mission.
- Coordinates between senior management at Mission, UNHQ, and UN Agencies, Programmes and Funds to establish priorities and develop comprehensive supply support plans.
- Manages overall Supply Section input into the acquisition process including budget formulation, acquisition planning, scope of work development, specifications, requisitions, participation in technical evaluations, and submissions to Local Committee Contracts (LCC).
- Develops and recommends mission supply operations Results Based Budgeting (RBB) and detailed budget submissions.
- Monitors high value expenditures and approves requisitions for provision, acquisition, contracting of services and acquisition of equipment and supplies.
- Initiates and oversees periodic reviews of policies, practices and directives to ensure best practices in supply issues, standards and procedures.
- Liaises with the Mission Contract Compliance Management Section in resolving contractual implementation disputes.
- Develops Supply Section business plans and monitors implementation of individual work plans.
- Develops, trains, and monitors performance of personnel within the section.
- Interviews and evaluates candidates for job openings.
- Carries out technical review of supply related logistics personnel rosters in the DOS/DMSPC.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements
- Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in business administration, Supply Services Management, public administration, law, engineering or related field.
- A first-level university degree in combination of professional certification, and extensive experience in project/contract management, and management or related areas may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
- A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in the development, planning, management and support of international commercial operations, military or field operations is required.
- Experience in managing logistics supply operations in an international military supply operation is required.
- Experience in managing major projects and procurement or global service contract(s) is required.
- Experience in planning, deployment or sustaining field operations is required.
- Experience in change management is desirable.
- English language proficiency at UN Level III in reading, writing, listening and speaking is required.
