See your match score & applyThe Associate Information Analyst supports the International, Impartial and Independent Mechanism (IIIM) by facilitating information sharing relevant to the search for missing persons in Syria. The role involves research, analysis, information management, and cooperation with the Independent Institution on Missing Persons for Syria (IIMP).
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development of research and analysis strategies and conduct research to identify relevant information in the IIIM repository and open-source information in support of the search for the missing in Syria and memorialization of the Syrian conflict for transitional justice efforts.
- Evaluate and analyze information to determine relevance and gaps and to inform decisions relating to the search for the missing.
- Organize and synthesize relevant information and evidence, including through the use of analytical software(s), and related analytical products in support of the IIIM’s proactive sharing activities for the IIMP.
- Maintain and update IIIM’s internal databases and use information management processes and electronic information systems to classify, manage, store, prepare and transfer information packages to the IIMP, including assisting in seeking consent from the sources.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in criminology, law, Middle Eastern studies, conflict or security studies, international relations, human rights or criminal law, political/social science or related fields is required.
- A first-level university degree in combination with 2 additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- Certification or training in intelligence analysis is desirable.
- A minimum of two years of progressively responsible work experience in information analysis in the context of missing persons, criminal investigations, international humanitarian law or human rights, or in the context of the Middle East or North Africa region is required.
- Experience in eDiscovery methodology or big data investigations is desirable.
- Experience using analytical software is desirable.
- Experience in relation to the Syrian conflict is desirable.
- Experience in evidence review is desirable.
- English and Arabic are required at UN Level III for reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
