See your match score & applyThe RCCE Coordinator is responsible for defining, coordinating, and strategically supervising risk communication and community engagement activities at national and provincial levels. The role supports health authorities, community structures, and partners to ensure coherence, quality, and impact of RCCE interventions in public health emergency responses.
Responsibilities
- Define, coordinate and strategically supervise risk communication and community engagement activities at national and provincial levels.
- Ensure coherence, quality and impact of RCCE interventions in support of health authorities, community structures and partners.
- Integrate RCCE approaches into overall public health emergency response.
- Mobilize as needed outside usual functions during humanitarian emergencies.
Requirements
- University degree (Master's level) in communication, social sciences, public health, health promotion, community development, behavioral sciences, journalism, sociology, anthropology or other relevant field from a recognized institution.
- At least five years of relevant professional experience in risk communication, community engagement, health promotion, social and behavioral change communication, public health communication or community emergency work.
- Experience in planning and implementing community engagement activities with governments, local authorities, community leaders, civil society or humanitarian partners.
- Experience in collecting and analyzing community feedback, rumors, perceptions or behavioral information and translating results into operational actions.
- Experience preparing clear reports, activity plans and communication materials for diverse audiences.
- Experience collaborating with health sector actors including international NGOs, UN agencies and similar organizations.
- Experience supporting preparedness or response to epidemics, especially viral hemorrhagic fever, cholera, mpox, measles or other epidemic-prone diseases.
- Experience training and supervising community mobilizers, volunteers or partner staff.
- Experience working with radio, community media, hotlines, digital communication platforms or social listening systems.
- Experience in social media listening, media monitoring or data visualization is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of risk communication and community engagement principles in public health emergencies.
- Ability to translate technical information into clear, practical, culturally appropriate messages.
- Ability to listen to communities, analyze concerns and propose practical solutions.
- Excellent facilitation, interpersonal communication, negotiation and conflict management skills.
- Ability to coordinate partners and work effectively with local authorities, health professionals and community structures.
- Ability to plan, organize and implement activities under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Excellent writing, reporting and presentation skills.
- Sound judgment, discretion and respect for confidentiality.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently and work in difficult or isolated field conditions.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Ability to use mobile data collection and communication tools such as KoboToolbox, ODK, WhatsApp or equivalent platforms.
- Practical knowledge of other relevant local languages used at duty station is an asset.
