As a Persvoorlichter at Save the Children Netherlands, you will manage public relations around campaigns, activations, and events to raise awareness of children's rights. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with colleague press officer on shared media calendar, strategy and on-call duties.
  • Lead PR around campaigns, activations or events and support colleague as needed.
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists and editors in human interest, local media, societal platforms and trade journals.
  • Guide media contacts and appearances.
  • Advise and support spokespersons.
  • Write news articles for the website based on press releases and publish them in the CMS.
  • Monitor media output impact using tools like Media Info Group and PR Dashboard.
  • Select the most effective channels based on objectives, not just the obvious ones.
  • Safeguard and enhance Save the Children's reputation as a credible voice on relevant themes.

Requirements

  • Experience in PR, press relations or communications.
  • A journalistic background is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to identify newsworthy stories and promote them effectively.
  • Experience with PR around campaigns, events or activations.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with human interest, local, societal and thematic media.
  • Sensitivity to the themes and target groups Save the Children works with and ability to handle these carefully.
  • Experience with or willingness to quickly learn CMS systems.
  • Flexibility to respond to current events.
  • Strategic thinking and ability to switch quickly.
  • Creative writing skills with the ability to choose the right tone and angle for each channel.
  • Ability to translate complex themes into newsworthy angles.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Overview and adaptability including handling logistics for press trips.
