Especialista Técnico de Saúde e Nutrição

The Specialist in Health and Nutrition plays a key role in strengthening the quality, impact, and growth of Save the Children Mozambique's Health and Nutrition portfolio. The position provides technical leadership in program design, implementation, learning, and capacity building, ensuring alignment with Ministry of Health policies and global best practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership in the design, implementation, learning and capacity strengthening of health and nutrition programs.
• Ensure alignment of programs with Ministry of Health policies, global best practices and Save the Children National Strategic Plan.
• Support identification and development of strategic partnerships including private sector, foundations, academic institutions and other non-traditional partners to enhance program quality, innovation, sustainability and resource mobilization.
• Contribute to development of high-quality proposals and master budgets.
• Support strategic fundraising efforts and participate in inter-institutional coordination and advocacy.
• Play a key role in capacity development of technical team, particularly in nutrition.
• Support recruitment processes to strengthen the technical team.
• Work proactively and collaboratively to promote innovation and quality in both development and humanitarian contexts.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Public Health, Nutrition or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in health and nutrition programs, preferably in Mozambique or similar African contexts.
• Proven experience in donor prospecting and fundraising strategy planning.
• Experience engaging with private sector entities, corporate foundations, industry associations or other non-traditional partners to support program implementation, innovation, advocacy or resource mobilization.
• Demonstrated experience in proposal development for donors including major institutional donors (e.g., EU, GAC, ECHO) and private companies, with a successful fundraising track record.
• Experience contributing to strategic planning and growth of Health and Nutrition portfolio.
• Proven experience in community, primary and secondary healthcare including maternal, neonatal and child health, nutrition and HIV/AIDS.
• Strong knowledge of the Mozambican health system, sector policies and key stakeholders including the Ministry of Health (MISAU).
• Strong technical writing skills including ability to produce high-quality narrative reports and technical proposal sections.
• Experience in capacity building of staff and partners using participatory and inclusive approaches.
• Familiarity with multisectoral programs including links with child protection, education, WASH and food security.
• Experience working in humanitarian or fragile contexts is an advantage.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including negotiation, coaching and influencing diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a results focus.
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, dynamic and occasionally high-pressure environment.
• Fluency in English and Portuguese (spoken and written) is mandatory.
