See your match score & applyThe Policy, Advocacy & Strategic Partnerships Officer supports the Policy, Advocacy, Strategic Partnerships Lead in coordinating and advancing Plan International's climate partnership agenda globally. The role involves developing partnership proposals, advocacy materials, and managing partnership pipelines to unlock investment in girls-centred climate programming.
Responsibilities
- Support the Policy, Advocacy & Strategic Partnerships Lead with research and outreach to prospective bilateral and multilateral partners, applying a climate and sustainable livelihoods lens to identify funding and advocacy opportunities.
- Contribute to the development of compelling value propositions, partnership proposals, business cases, briefing papers, and talking points that make the evidence-based case for climate-linked investment in girls.
- Consolidate and maintain an up-to-date repository of climate-relevant intelligence, evidence, and foresight inputs to strengthen advocacy materials and partnership proposals.
- Track, administer, and maintain accurate records of the climate and sustainable livelihoods partnership pipeline including status of partners, next steps, and key timelines.
- Monitor and analyse external trends in climate policy, development finance, and funding landscapes relevant to Plan International's climate agenda, providing timely updates to the Lead.
- Provide surge support to the Policy & Strategic Partnerships Lead on project based work, cross-thematic collaborations, and high-priority advocacy moments as needed.
- Support the preparation of presentations, talking points, and materials that reflect climate justice principles, gender-transformative approaches and inclusive livelihoods perspectives for external meetings, convenings, and conferences.
- Provide surge support across Global Affairs priorities/initiatives, thematics, advocacy, strategic partnerships and trends analysis as directed.
- Ensure Plan International's global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in accordance with policy principles and requirements.
Requirements
- Knowledge of climate change, sustainable livelihoods, and development finance as thematic and advocacy areas, including understanding of key global frameworks (Paris Agreement, UNFCCC, SDGs).
- Strong written communication skills including the ability to draft compelling briefings, talking points, and proposal contributions for diverse audiences.
- Ability to synthesise complex climate, development, and funding data into clear, actionable intelligence and advocacy materials.
- Strong research and analytical skills, with experience conducting policy or landscape analysis.
- Coordination and administrative skills including the ability to manage partnership pipeline data, track workstreams, and maintain accurate records.
- Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external stakeholders.
- Relationship management and partnership building with key stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and writing skills.
- Experience in an INGO, multilateral, or research institution working on climate justice, climate finance, or related themes (desirable).
- Understanding of girls' rights and gender dimensions of climate change and sustainable livelihoods (desirable).
- Familiarity with Plan International's programmes and positioning in the climate and livelihoods space (desirable).
- Experience supporting partnership development or proposal writing processes (desirable).
