Protection from Violence Officer

The Protection from Violence Officer is responsible for the day-to-day implementation of the Protection from Violence project portfolio in ERRM. The role includes service delivery, monitoring project activities, compliance with technical standards, and community communication, with significant travel to deliver mobile services.

Responsibilities

• Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines.
• Implement the Delegated Protection from Violence project portfolio according to plan of action.
• Prepare and develop status reports as required by management.
• Ensure proper filing of documents.
• Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and assess new and better ways to assist.
• Promote and share ideas for technical improvement.
• Implement civilian self-protection programming, deliver individual response services, and conduct protection monitoring, analysis and advocacy activities in accordance with Safe and Inclusive Programming principles.
• Ensure the respect of NRC’s Code of Conduct, confidentiality and humanitarian principles within the Protection from Violence Team.
• Collaborate with PfV Officers in direct service provision, including the provision of technical guidance for best practice.
• Produce regular reports and support the PfV Coordinator and PfV Specialist in submitting internal and donor reports as per schedule.
• Assess, promote, and document ideas for technical improvement and further programme development options and to ensure Safe and Inclusive Programming.
• Oversee and ensure achievements of targets of activities according to NRC and donors’ requirements through management of the Protection from Violence activities under his/her supervision.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationship with relevant stakeholders including partner agencies, community leaders/representative and service providers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree.
• 1-3 years’ experience with Protection activities and programming.
• Experience from working as a Project Officer in a humanitarian/recovery context.
• Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.
• Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
• Knowledge of English and Arabic as added advantage.
• Self-motivated with well-developed organizational and communication skills.
• Experience conducting community engagement processes, consultations, and/or participatory assessments is an advantage.
• Understand rights and protection issues of displacement-affected populations, experience in working on displacement-related issues is an advantage.
• Very strong interpersonal and teamwork skills; collaborative approach with the ability to work within different cultural environments.
• Level of knowledge and practice with Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. required.
