See your match score & applyThe Protection Coordinator manages the Protection from Violence team activities in the East Area Office covering Dnipropetrovska, Zaporizka and Donetska oblasts. The role involves planning, implementation, reporting, coordination with internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring adherence to NRC policies and protection standards.
Responsibilities
- Line management responsibilities for directly reporting staff including performance management, workforce planning, recruitment, staff induction and development, and ensuring Duty of Care
- Ensure compliance with NRC policies, procedures, handbooks and guidelines and propose new initiatives to bridge gaps
- Develop systems and SOPs and ensure their implementation
- Identify, analyse and evaluate key processes and gaps in team activities and recommend improvements
- Develop strong working relationships with local authorities, civil society, NGOs and other stakeholders and represent NRC in meetings
- Support roll-out of needs assessments in target areas including insecure environments
- Maintain up-to-date service mapping and referral pathways
- Ensure capacity building of all staff in line with work and development plans
- Prepare and develop status reports including programmatic and contextual issues
- Ensure proper data protection of sensitive information and compliance with NRC policies
- Supervise the PfV team including weekly operations and performance management
- Support implementation of NRC’s Protection Policy and global protection standards
- Develop strong relationships with external protection actors and referral partners and represent NRC in protection coordination meetings
- Support development of multisectoral coordination mechanisms at local level
- Support project management including budgeting to ensure targets and expenditures are planned and implemented
- Lead stakeholder meetings and community participation/consultation processes
- Support development of protection tools and guidance and update protection action plans
- Produce regular context analysis updates on protection trends and contribute to program development
- Develop detailed implementation and fieldwork plans and update procurement and spending trackers
- Share regular updates and project progress reports and contribute to donor reports
- Build partnerships with local organizations and foster their capacity for community-driven protection initiatives
- Facilitate regular team meetings and performance reviews to enhance staff motivation and performance
Requirements
- Understanding of the humanitarian and protection principles and strong commitment in ensuring their observation in daily field activities
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
- Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
- Experience working in coordination and liaising with external actors
- Good reporting skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Good knowledge of English, both written and verbal
- Previous experience working in humanitarian projects
- Deep knowledge and understanding of the local context, including socio-cultural, political, security and humanitarian situation
- Knowledge of global protection standards and relevant bodies of international law
