See your match score & applyThe Jordan INGO Forum Director is responsible for facilitating, leading and quality management of the INGO Forum work ensuring relevance to members' needs and context appropriateness. The role involves high-level engagement, strategic coordination, advocacy, and management of the Forum's operations and staff.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership to the Forum by encouraging delegation, accountability and teamwork.
- Ensure transparent coordination mechanisms and regular information sharing between INGOs and other stakeholders.
- Facilitate high quality, regular meetings of Country Directors and thematic working groups.
- Represent INGO interests in external meetings and planning efforts nationally and globally.
- Strategically guide and encourage common advocacy and policy engagement.
- Proactively set agendas and facilitate collaboration among INGOs and other stakeholders.
- Oversee development, review and implementation of JIF Advocacy Strategy in collaboration with the JIF Advocacy Working Group.
- Mobilize and leverage support from member organizations.
- Responsible for budgeting, budget management and accountability with support from NRC’s finance and grants teams.
- Appreciate political necessity and delicate policy issues in humanitarian, development, and peacebuilding work and apply principles to programming.
- Act as focal point for information/experience sharing with and among NGOs on relevant issues including managing NGO Forum and INGO membership, contact lists and mailing lists.
- Manage Secretariat staff and consultants, ensuring responsiveness and staff well-being.
- Ensure development of and compliance with procedures for the Forum and adherence to JIF approved policies and donor policies.
- Fundraise for the JIF in coordination with the Steering Committee to ensure sufficient funds to maintain operations of the Forum.
Requirements
- Undergraduate/postgraduate qualifications in international relations, political science, development or other relevant field.
- 5+ years of experience in a protracted crisis or post-conflict setting with an INGO in senior management role (e.g. Country Director or similar levels).
- Additional experience working in a coordination role in both humanitarian and development settings is preferred.
- Proven high profile management, coordination and strong advocacy experience in conflict-affected countries in humanitarian context.
- Demonstrated communication, leadership skills, interpersonal and negotiation/diplomatic skills.
- Documented skills in developing proposals, budgets and reports and familiarity with alternative funding modalities.
- Knowledge of international humanitarian law and humanitarian reform is a plus.
- Demonstrated knowledge of humanitarian architecture, the UN system, development coordination and familiarity with HDP Nexus contexts, Durable Solutions, and Localization.
- Strong understanding of protection and conflict sensitivity.
- Understanding of internal NRC operational and administrative system is an asset.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal, with strong writing and editing skills.
- Knowledge of Arabic is an added value.
