See your match score & applyThe Applications Technician develops, configures, deploys, and maintains application solutions supporting MSF OCBA’s field operations, focusing on eHealth and operational applications. The role ensures reliable, secure, and efficient information systems to enhance data-driven decision-making and operational effectiveness across multiple hubs.
Responsibilities
- Translate business and operational needs into technical requirements and scalable solutions.
- Develop and implement new applications or enhancements to existing systems to improve operational efficiency.
- Maintain and monitor applications and systems to ensure performance, reliability, and continuity, contributing to log required repairs and maintenance work.
- Provide technical support to users, ensuring timely resolution and adoption of systems.
- Design and optimize data models, databases, and information flows to improve data quality and accessibility.
- Integrate data and processes across systems to ensure interoperability and consistency.
- Ensure compliance with information security standards and manage risks in production environments.
- Document systems, processes, and user guidance to facilitate knowledge sharing and system sustainability.
- Collaborate with project teams across medical, operational, and technical departments.
- Work with external service providers to deliver technical solutions.
- Support system testing, validation, and deployment across multiple environments (development, integration, production) identifying risks and applying mitigation measures.
- Contribute to training sessions (either internal or end user) and user adoption initiatives.
- Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and MSF technical solutions to promote alignment and innovation.
- Operate in a multicultural and geographically distributed environment with remote support requirements.
- Availability for short field visits, either for training or application support.
Requirements
- Technical background in Information Technology, Software Development or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, including business analysis, application development lifecycle, application troubleshooting and debugging.
- Proven experience providing technical support to non-technical and geographically dispersed users.
- Previous experience in eHealth and/or humanitarian contexts will be considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of application development lifecycle, SQL databases, scripting and automation (e.g. JavaScript, Node.js), and front-end customization.
- Experience with web application environments, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), Microsoft Power Platform (PowerApps, Power Automate), and advanced Excel will be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of MSF-relevant platforms (DHIS2, KoBo, Community Health Toolkit) will be considered an asset.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Knowledge of French, Spanish, Arabic and/or Portuguese will be considered an asset.
