The Technician provides video/audio/webcasting services and operates relevant equipment to support internal and external meetings and conferences at the UN City and other locations. The role includes planning, organizing, and implementing AV technical support, maintaining equipment, and providing training and technical advice.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize and implement audio/video/webcasting and relevant technical support to meetings, conferences and other events.
  • Manage operation of conference halls AV and interpretation systems and all other equipment, ensuring preventive and regular maintenance.
  • Liaise with AV companies on-site to agree repairs of faulty equipment and prepare procurement options.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to improve conferencing services.
  • Program and operate AV systems and stage lights, set up and handle webcasting, videoconferencing and internet-based communication during meetings and conferences.
  • Record key top-level meetings and events and disseminate as appropriate.
  • Rearrange conference halls and meeting rooms to meet technical and physical requirements.
  • Liaise with staff at all levels in the UN City to plan and improve required services, including providing drawings of planned set-ups.
  • Function as a dedicated ASC resource for WHO key meetings, including travel to provide AV technical services when meetings are held outside Copenhagen.
  • Act as a technical resource for the Regional Administrative Services Manager and Operations Officer on AV systems, interpretation equipment and streaming services.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Regional Administrative Services Manager and Operations Officer.

Requirements

  • Completion of secondary school or equivalent.
  • Training in audio visual systems installation, operation and maintenance (desirable).
  • At least five years of experience operating video/audio/webcasting equipment in support of meetings and conferences.
  • Experience in coordinating external contractors and technicians.
  • Relevant experience working in WHO or in the UN (desirable).
  • Experience supporting international conferences in various locations (desirable).
  • Demonstrated skills in webcasting technology, videoconferencing, conference systems (wired, wireless infrared and HF transmissions), audio-visual digital editing and recording, sound production (PA systems / amplifiers) and photo/videography.
  • Skills in Visio software (or other equivalent software) (desirable).
  • Excellent (mother tongue/advanced) knowledge of English.
  • Working (intermediate) knowledge of French, Russian or French (desirable).
  • Excellent (mother tongue/advanced) knowledge of Danish (desirable).
