The Logistics Associate performs highly skilled logistics work in support of the Ebola emergency response, managing complex in-country logistics, warehousing and distribution cases that require evaluation and adaptation of procedures. The role supports timely and reliable movement, storage and last-mile delivery of programme supplies, including time-critical IPC commodities, and contributes to improved logistics services and delivery mechanisms.

Responsibilities

  • Manage complex in-country logistics, warehousing and distribution cases requiring evaluation and adaptation of procedures.
  • Support timely and reliable movement, storage and last-mile delivery of programme supplies including time-critical IPC commodities.
  • Contribute to the design of improved logistics services and delivery mechanisms.
  • May supervise lower-level GS staff.
  • Perform tasks related to in-country logistics, warehousing and inventory management, emergency preparedness, partnership, coordination and reporting.

Requirements

  • Completion of secondary education is required.
  • Professional and/or university courses related to logistics, supply chain management or a related field are highly desirable.
  • A minimum of six (6) years of relevant administrative experience in logistics, warehousing, transport, supply chain management or a commercial context is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply UNICEF (or comparable) logistics and supply rules, procedures and good practices to complex individual cases.
  • Experience using an ERP system (VISION/SAP supply and logistics modules) and MS Office tools.
  • Experience gained in a humanitarian, emergency, or public-health-emergency setting is desirable.
  • Experience supporting an active outbreak or emergency response (e.g., Ebola, cholera, measles, mpox, displacement, or a declared L2/L3 emergency), preferably in the Democratic Republic of the Congo or comparable fragile, conflict-affected, and resource-constrained environments is desirable.
  • Experience working with and/or through counterparts (Government and decentralized authorities, UN agencies, cluster and coordination mechanisms, implementing partners) to deliver measurable results in insecure or hard-to-reach areas is desirable.
  • Fluency in French is required.
  • An intermediate level of English or above is acceptable.
