Security Officer

The Security Officer provides professional technical, operational and administrative assistance to manage security planning, risk assessments, and ensure the safety and security of personnel, family members, and UNICEF premises in Butembo, DRC. The role supports the response to the Ebola Virus Disease outbreak in a complex and evolving security context.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional technical, operational and administrative assistance to the supervisor to manage security planning and risk assessments.
• Ensure the safety and security of personnel and their eligible family members.
• Safeguard UNICEF premises, assets and resources at the duty station.
• Support effective and equitable response efforts in a complex security environment related to the Ebola Virus Disease outbreak.

Requirements

• A university degree in one of the following fields is required: Security Risk Management, International Relations, Conflict Analysis, Intelligence Analysis, Diplomatic Studies, Conflict and Security, Counter Terrorism or another relevant technical field.
• A minimum of two years of professional experience in global security risk management and/or security analysis is required.
• Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is desirable.
• Demonstrated international security management experience and understanding of the United Nations Security Management System is highly desirable.
• Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts is desirable.
