The Water Engineer will support the National Works Specialist and the Coordinating Engineer to achieve Result 2 of the UNOPS/24330 project, focusing on the analysis of physical infrastructure assessment of schools, particularly in indigenous and quilombola communities in Brazil. The role requires working from home with availability for meetings and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Support the National Works Specialist and Coordinating Engineer in achieving project Result 2 related to infrastructure assessment of schools.
  • Contribute to the analysis and management of physical infrastructure projects for indigenous and quilombola communities.
  • Assist in strengthening the management of the Coordinated Action Plan (PAR) for educational infrastructure.
  • Support technical assistance to federal entities to improve project execution and reduce stalled or unfinished works.
  • Participate in meetings and coordinate with project stakeholders remotely.
  • Travel as necessary to support project activities and stakeholder engagement.

Requirements

  • Must have a suitable home working environment with own laptop, software, and internet connection.
  • Availability to participate in meetings during business hours.
  • Availability to travel as required, with travel costs covered by UNOPS according to procedures.
  • Experience in sanitary/hydraulic engineering or related field.
  • Ability to support technical cooperation projects focused on educational infrastructure for traditional peoples in Brazil.
  • Experience in infrastructure assessment and project management related to school construction.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, security, environment and social development (HSSE) management in construction projects is desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and remotely while coordinating with project teams.
  • Fluency in Portuguese and English is implied due to the bilingual job posting and regional focus.
