The Social & Behavior Change Officer provides technical and operational support for planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating evidence-based social and behavior change strategies to improve nutritional practices and increase demand and use of essential nutrition services in Burkina Faso. The role includes supporting the First Foods Africa initiative to promote appropriate complementary feeding practices for children aged 6 to 23 months.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement social and behavior change (SBC) approaches for nutrition, including in emergency situations.
  • Support strengthening of national and community systems.
  • Conduct monitoring, evaluation, reporting, and knowledge management related to SBC nutrition programs.

Requirements

  • A university degree (Bachelor's or higher) in social sciences, including sociology, anthropology, communication/communication for development, psychology, or a related field.
  • At least one (1) year of professional experience in one or more of the following areas: planning and implementation of social development programs, community program facilitation, communication for development or social and behavior change, public advocacy, or related field.
  • Awareness of self and ethics, collaborative work, partnership development and maintenance, innovation and openness to change, strategic thinking and action, results-oriented with high impact, management of ambiguity and complexity.
  • Fluency in French and knowledge of at least one national language are required.
  • Knowledge of English is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Chinese, Russian, or Spanish) is an asset.
  • Relevant country-level experience, especially in development, fragile, and humanitarian contexts, is essential and must be included in all offers.
