The Communications Intern will support the Localization Management Unit at DRC by creating and promoting content, researching diaspora stories, supporting communication for events, and assisting with administrative and internal communication tasks. The role offers hands-on experience in the humanitarian sector and flexibility to align tasks with study programs.
Responsibilities
- Support creation and promotion of engaging content (copy, videos, infographics, factsheets) using tools like InDesign and Canva, adhering to DRC's corporate identity.
- Monitor social media channels and digital platforms to share diaspora stories.
- Research and draft compelling human-interest stories on diaspora engagement for websites and online channels.
- Conduct interviews with diaspora members and local organizations to showcase impactful work.
- Conduct rapid online diaspora response mapping and support distribution of new reports and research findings.
- Extract key messages for targeted promotion through digital media platforms.
- Provide end-to-end communication support for events across email and social media platforms (Mailchimp, LinkedIn).
- Prepare event notices, distribute post-event reports, and support outreach to diaspora organizations.
- Assist in organizing meetings and appointments, produce and distribute meeting minutes, edit and publish internal news on the organization's intranet, and develop integrated communications plans across teams.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a master's program in communication studies, multimedia design, PR, journalism, or related fields, or alternatively graduate-level students in development studies, political science, or international relations with hands-on experience in communication, social media, design, and digital communication.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to work independently as well as in a team.
- Ability to work systematically with good structure and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- French, Danish, or Arabic are advantages.
- Experience in graphic design, video and content production for digital platforms is valuable but not required.
- It is a requirement that you are enrolled in a university during the whole duration of the internship period in order to be considered for the internship.
