The consultant will conduct advanced secondary analyses of national nutrition data to generate actionable evidence to inform nutrition policies and program implementation in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This work supports the National Multisectoral Nutrition Strategic Plan 2023-2030 and involves collaboration with UNICEF and government entities.
Responsibilities
- Initiate a comprehensive programme of advanced secondary analyses beyond descriptive reporting
- Generate actionable evidence to inform nutrition policies, strategic choices, and programme implementation in the DRC
- Contribute to the development of a thematic supplement coordinated by UNICEF and government entities
- Bring together cutting-edge analytical work and implementation-focused evidence
Requirements
- PhD in Food and sciences - Nutrition and health - Biostatistics
- At least 10 years of professional experience in conducting secondary and geospatial analyses of large-scale surveys (National Nutrition Survey, MICS, DHS)
- Proven work experience in nutrition programs, food security, and health
- Experience in developing policies and actionable implementation plans
- Proven practical experience in GIS or similar work in developing countries is essential
- PhD in a relevant field, such as nutrition, nutrition economics, statistics, epidemiology, health economics and public health
- Excellent analytical, synthesis, and writing skills
- Knowledge and understanding of the global nutrition context, particularly complementary feeding, dietary intake assessment, micronutrients, food systems, and management of acute malnutrition programs
- Ability to work closely with government bodies with tact and diplomacy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), STATA, R software, and the R-INLA package
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, as well as independently with minimal supervision
- Fluency in French & English, both written and spoken
- Knowledge of the health system in the Democratic Republic of Congo is an asset
- Experience in the Democratic Republic of Congo is an asset
