The intern will support environmental sustainability initiatives led by the Greening the Blue Committee at UN House Costa Rica. Tasks include assisting with an institutional environmental diagnosis, contributing to the design of a sustainability strategy, coordinating with the committee, and preparing reports and presentations.
Responsibilities
- Support the preparation of a preliminary institutional environmental diagnosis.
- Contribute to the design of an environmental sustainability improvement strategy for UN House Costa Rica aligned with Greening the Blue principles and UN System commitments.
- Work in coordination with the Greening the Blue Committee of UN House Costa Rica.
- Present progress, proposals and recommendations to the Committee for feedback.
- Support the preparation of a final written document consolidating the diagnosis, proposed strategy and recommendations.
- Support, if required, in presentations or executive inputs for decision-making.
- Perform other technical functions related to economic analysis and data management assigned within the strategic priorities of the Office.
Requirements
- Desirable university Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health or related fields.
- Desirable to be a student in a Bachelor's degree program in Environmental Health or related fields.
- Applicants to the United Nations Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.
- Applicants must have a field of study closely related to the type of internship applied for.
- Applicants must be in the final year of a first university degree (bachelor's or equivalent), or enrolled in a master's or doctoral (Ph.D.) program or equivalent, or have completed a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree.
- Desirable work experience in environmental health topics.
- Fluent oral and written Spanish is required for the internship.
- English and French are working languages of the UN Secretariat.
- Knowledge of another official UN language is an advantage.
- The official UN Secretariat languages are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.
