The Immigrant Youth Casework Intern supports the Miami-Dade-based Immigrant Youth team in delivering essential services to immigrant children and their families. The role involves assisting caseworkers with school enrollment, public benefits applications, referrals, client advocacy, and community outreach initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Assist caseworkers serving children and their families by helping them with school enrollment, public benefits applications, making referrals, and client advocacy
  • Assist with research on local community resources
  • Assist with outreach to local organizations to help establish partnerships within the community
  • Assist with managing client case notes and files
  • Communicate case statuses and coordinate service plans with the supervisor

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Minimum commitment of 15 hours per week for a minimum of 3 consecutive months
  • Must pass a background check
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Organized with attention to detail
  • Able to work independently and under pressure
  • An interest in international issues
  • Strong desire and enthusiasm to help people
  • Computer literacy – preferably with PC systems
  • Access to internet
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable access to an insured vehicle
