The Digital Fundraising Specialist will lead the implementation of digital fundraising marketing strategies to support OCHA's private sector fundraising globally. The role involves developing and managing digital fundraising campaigns, optimizing paid social advertising, supporting country offices in emergency digital media mobilization, and ensuring analytics and reporting for fundraising efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Implementation of Digital Fundraising Marketing Strategy including developing fundraising campaigns and ensuring availability in key languages.
  • Work closely with OCHA’s Public Advocacy and Campaigns section to align digital fundraising marketing activities with OCHA’s Strategic Communications Strategy.
  • Develop fundraising-specific content for social media and advise on scheduling according to a strategic fundraising calendar.
  • Contribute to implementation of a search engine optimization (SEO) strategy for OCHA’s webpages.
  • Manage digital fundraising initiatives and strategic partnerships, ensuring quality and timely project updates.
  • Boost fundraising revenues and return on investment (ROI) through planning, implementation, optimization, and post campaign review.
  • Champion strategic evolution of paid social advertising investments through test & learn, optimization, and data integration.
  • Support OCHA’s Country Offices in mobilizing digital media quickly during emergencies and improve related processes.
  • Work with fundraising Digital Specialists and Data Analysts to build frameworks for measurement and review of campaigns.
  • Plan and execute centrally paid advertising campaigns to maximize income growth and ROI.
  • Provide technical expertise in interactions with platforms (Google, Meta, LinkedIn) and service providers.
  • Build and sustain engagement with individual donors through email marketing.
  • Moderate digital channels, monitor reactions, flag risks, and work with communication teams to escalate issues.
  • Identify high performing content for fundraising initiatives and conversion opportunities.
  • Support preparation of analytics reports on platform performance and digital fundraising marketing efforts.
  • Identify, synthesize and document best practices and lessons learned from projects and partners.
  • Perform other digital fundraising communication and content management duties as required.
  • Attend meetings on digital strategy and collaborate with other OCHA campaigns and private sector teams.
  • Perform other duties within functional profile as necessary for efficient functioning of the Office and Organization.

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in Communication, Marketing, Journalism, International Relations or other related field of studies is required.
  • A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the above-mentioned field of study, in combination with an additional two (2) years of qualifying experience will be given due consideration in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • Minimum of five (5) years (with master’s degree) or seven (7) years (with bachelor’s degree) of progressively responsible experience in digital fundraising, social media, marketing, or related areas is required.
  • A track record of delivering successful digital fundraising campaigns including planning, delivery, optimization and reporting.
  • Experience in handling data and reports, with solid numeracy skills and the ability to interpret and present information effectively.
  • Experience in developing on-brand digital content that resonates with unfamiliar digital audiences.
  • Experience in production of visual content for web platforms and designing original graphics is an asset.
  • Professional work experience in humanitarian affairs, emergency preparedness, crisis/emergency relief management (complex emergency or natural disaster), rehabilitation, development, or other related area is an asset.
  • Previous experience supporting engagement and collaboration between the United Nations and the private sector is highly desirable.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Working knowledge of French and/or Arabic is an advantage.
