Health Specialist

The Health Specialist supports programme preparation, planning, and implementation to improve the health of marginalized and vulnerable women and children in Afghanistan. The role contributes to UNICEF's mission to promote children's rights and equitable development through health systems strengthening and public health initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Support to programme development and planning
• Programme management, monitoring and delivery of results

Requirements

• An advanced university degree (Master`s degree or equivalent) is required in public health, health systems strengthening, health policy, management or any other related fields.
• A minimum of five years of relevant work experience in health, health systems strengthening, public health planning and management, maternal and neonatal health, or any other related fields is required.
• Experience in monitoring, evaluation, planning, management, implementation and reporting is required.
• Fluency in English is required.
• Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
• Experience working with the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, the UN or an international organization is desirable.
• Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts are further assets.
