The MHPSS Associate (Social Support) supports the implementation of community mental health and psychosocial support activities as well as social support activities for migrants, returnees, and host communities in transit centers, Migrant Resource Centers, and community stabilization areas. The role promotes psychosocial well-being through structured activities, awareness raising, recreational activities, information sharing sessions, and other community activities.
Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of structured psychosocial and recreational activities for migrants and community members.
- Contribute to organizing psychoeducation activities on stress management, well-being, coping strategies, peaceful coexistence and social cohesion.
- Support awareness raising and information sharing activities in transit centers and communities.
- Contribute to referring beneficiaries to appropriate services according to established guidelines, referral mechanisms and procedures.
- Support the organization of educational, cultural, life skills development and community activities.
- Assist with beneficiary registration and orientation activities and report concerns to the Senior MHPSS Associate or MHPSS Programme Officer.
- Support community activities promoting well-being, social inclusion and community participation.
- Maintain activity records, attendance lists and basic documentation related to activity reports.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, inclusive and respectful environment within MHPSS spaces.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Diplôme d’études secondaires avec cinq (5) années d’expérience professionnelle pertinente ; ou Diplôme universitaire en psychologie, travail social, conseil psychosocial, sciences sociales ou dans un domaine connexe délivré par un établissement académique accrédité avec trois (3) années d’expérience professionnelle pertinente.
- Experience working with vulnerable populations in community or humanitarian contexts.
- Experience supporting group activities, awareness raising or community initiatives.
- Experience in migration, displacement or stabilization contexts is an asset.
- Good organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse groups in a multicultural environment.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and data management tools.
- Ability to keep accurate records and manage program documentation.
- Ability to work under pressure and in demanding environments.
- Fluency in English and French, both oral and written.
- Knowledge of other languages relevant to migrant populations is an asset.
