The Blood Collections Supervisor leads the blood collection team to ensure donors have the best experience possible. This role involves supervising staff, driving results, and maintaining high customer service standards in a humanitarian organization.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise blood collection staff, including training and performance
  • Drive for results and to serve others with a high level of respect for customer service
  • Take the time to personally connect with donors – listen to their stories and help them understand the value of their donation
  • Contribute to a friendly and fun environment
  • Team up with co-workers to keep donors coming back again and again
  • Work a variable schedule including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays
  • May require overnight travel in some locations
  • Set up and tear down equipment required to conduct mobile blood drives

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree OR a combination of education and work experience (four to eight years of work experience in a related field) is required
  • Minimum of three years of supervisory/leadership experience
  • Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills are required
  • Ability to effectively discuss procedures and medical issues with patients, families and physicians needed
  • A current, valid driver's license with a good driving record is required
  • Physical requirements may include the ability to lift, push or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs, good manual dexterity, the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and adapt to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes are required
  • Position may require a minimum height of 60 inches to ensure the ability to safely operate Red Cross vehicles
  • Basic computer skills are desirable
  • Prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience (CNA, MA, EMT, etc.) preferred
  • Prior leadership experience exceeding 3 years in a healthcare setting preferred
