The Intern – Protection Data Analysis will support the implementation of protection activities in Thailand by maintaining beneficiary profiles, developing dashboards and analytical briefs, assisting with surveys and data clearing, and supporting monthly monitoring tracking data. This internship offers an opportunity to build knowledge of protection data management and gain experience in migration protection programming within an international environment.
Responsibilities
- Support in maintaining beneficiary profiles and needs assessments, through collecting vulnerability data, document and filing case records in IOM internal database in accordance with IOM Data Protection Principles.
- Develop dashboards and analytical briefs (e.g., trend analyses and disaggregation by vulnerability, location, and assistance type) to inform case management and protection decision‑making, ensuring anonymization and adherence to the IOM Data Protection Principles.
- Assist with the administration of surveys to assess level and progress of in-kind assistance and referral services.
- Assist in data clearing and preparing monthly data statistic on assistance to vulnerable migrants and voluntary return and reintegration.
- Assist the project team to complete monthly monitoring tracking data.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Requirements
- Enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent) in social work, law, international relations, political science, social science or other relevant area from an accredited institution; OR Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) or graduated within the last 12 months with a Bachelor's degree or higher in social work, law, international relations, political science, social science or other relevant area from an accredited institution.
- Data collection, analysis and reporting (collect, clean, organise and analyse datasets to produce clear insights for reporting and decision-making);
- Having working experience on Counter-trafficking interventions and/or data management will be considered an asset;
- Working and/or studying in a multi-cultural environment and demonstrated capacity to respect diversity.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and ensure responsible data handling is mandatory;
- Proven understanding of migration dynamics and of vulnerabilities experienced by migrant populations;
- Demonstrated knowledge of information technology and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, Publisher, and SharePoint.
- Fluency in English (oral and written) is required; working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is an advantage.
