The Project Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the implementation of the Economic Empowerment project focusing on improving skills, economic opportunities and resilience of women and smallholders involved in the coffee value chain in Tarime, Mara region. The role involves leading project activities, coordinating with partners and stakeholders, ensuring quality assurance, reporting, and managing project resources.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the implementation of the Economic Empowerment project focusing on women and youth in coffee farming in Tarime.
- Lead the implementation of all project activities in line with the project proposal and donor agreement.
- Ensure quality assurance, reporting, oversight of M&E activities and communications.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships and clear communication with key collaborators, local government authorities and other stakeholders.
- Manage project resources including timely utilization of project funds.
- Support identification and engagement of input suppliers and private sector companies involved in the coffee value chain.
- Ensure delivery, monitoring and evaluation of all activities and outputs as per Results Framework and Implementation Plan.
- Represent Plan at district, regional, zonal and national stakeholder forums, consultative sessions, or conferences related to coffee production and marketing.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in agribusiness, agriculture economics, agriculture, entrepreneurship, business administration, commerce, economics.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in agriculture programmes, youth employment programmes and projects; 3 years in a leading role.
- Solid work experience with development partners and local government required.
- Experience working in or closely with the private sector.
- Experience working in or closely with coffee farmers, AMCOS, WAMACU and researchers and regulatory boards of coffee husbandry and businesses.
- Experience of working with children and communities and managing child-related programs and projects would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of the Tanzanian context for local and international civil society.
- Demonstrated knowledge of responsibly coordinating and delivering results in youth employment projects in Tanzania.
- Strong command of Kiswahili and English and technical knowledge of youth employment terminology.
- Deep knowledge of youth employment challenges in Tanzania and beyond.
- Proven experience in overseeing, monitoring and managing at least three subcontractors / partners in Tanzania at programme / project basis.
- Proven experience in re-presenting a project intervention to other stakeholders.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of saving group operations an asset, especially youth saving groups.
- Robust expertise and experience working with the private sector at micro-level as well as corporate-level.
- Solid understanding of private sector operations (challenges, needs, risks).
- Excellent coordination, planning and design skills.
- Advanced negotiating skills.
- Proven strategic relationship management skills.
- Conceptual and analytical skills.
- Excellent people skills (good team member).
- High level of computer proficiency.
