The Assistant Director CBRNE leads and manages the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, Explosives and Vulnerable Targets Sub-Directorate, overseeing terrorism-related activities, capacity building, strategic partnerships, and operational support to INTERPOL's member countries. The role involves strategic leadership, program development, and coordination of global CBRNE & VT initiatives under the Counter-Terrorism Directorate.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the CBRNE & VT Sub-Directorate ensuring implementation of policies, plans, and strategic objectives.
- Oversee CBRNE & VT operations support and coordination to maintain implementation of CT’s Global Crime Programme.
- Drive CBRNE & VT strategy, outreach, capacity and capability development aligned with member countries' needs.
- Design and develop programmes and projects supporting CBRNE & VT objectives.
- Maintain contemporary knowledge of the CBRNE & VT threat landscape.
- Build and enhance strategic and operational partnerships with international partners and stakeholders.
- Lead and coordinate fundraising initiatives to ensure sustainability of CBRNE & VT deliverables.
- Strengthen CBRNE & VT capacities of member countries to prevent and investigate related crimes.
- Oversee delivery against CT’s key performance indicators, implementation plans, governance reporting and project outcomes.
- Act on behalf of the Director in their absence and represent INTERPOL at international conferences and meetings.
- Develop and maintain effective contacts and networks within INTERPOL and with external agencies.
- Explore cooperation opportunities with member countries and partners to advance global strategy implementation.
- Manage financial and staffing resources efficiently for the Sub-Directorate.
- Perform other duties as required by the Director and/or Executive Director Investigation Support.
Requirements
- 5 years University degree (preferably in Law, Criminal Justice, Public Policy, Police Management or CT related).
- Law enforcement training at a senior level.
- Minimum of 10 years experience in Counter Terrorism, CBRNE, WMD or related field, and possess highly specialized criminal investigations expertise including regional and national operational exposure/policing activities or support.
- Strong leadership skills and experience as a Senior Manager of a national law enforcement agency or an equivalent position in an international law enforcement organization.
- Sound background in the management of strategic programs and projects and their performance monitoring, evaluation, measurement and reporting.
- Experience in planning and managing complex tasks, with minimum supervision.
- Experience working in an international environment would be highly desirable; either from employment in an international organization or from participating in for example, international working groups, joint international projects etc.
- Strong communication skills, both in written and oral form.
- Experience working with computers, including knowledge of oral presentation software, business intelligence and word processing software.
- English is required.
- Proficiency in a second official working language (Arabic, French or Spanish) would be an additional asset.
