The Product Owner with strong data analysis skills will be responsible for agile product ownership, backlog management, stakeholder engagement, financial data analysis, reporting automation, data visualization, and continuous improvement within the ITS Finance portfolio at the World Bank Group. The role supports the delivery of transformative information and technologies to enhance financial operations agility and corporate reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain the team's product backlog, ensuring user stories are well-defined, estimated, prioritized, and sprint-ready.
  • Translate business requirements into clear, actionable user stories with precise acceptance criteria.
  • Lead sprint planning, backlog refinement, and sprint review ceremonies in collaboration with Scrum Master and development team.
  • Define and communicate product vision and multi-year roadmap aligned with World Bank Group's corporate strategy and reporting priorities.
  • Serve as primary liaison between Corporate Reporting Agile Team and stakeholder community across World Bank Group including Finance, Accounting, Controller's office, and IT teams.
  • Participate in institutional meetings and represent product portfolio to senior stakeholders.
  • Manage competing priorities diplomatically and ensure business needs are accurately captured in backlog.
  • Coordinate user acceptance testing and validate delivered features meet stakeholder expectations prior to release.
  • Accept or reject completed work based on acceptance criteria and team's Definition of Done.
  • Collect, process, analyze, and present financial data to support accurate and timely corporate reporting.
  • Respond to ad hoc data and analytical requests from leadership and business units.
  • Align with Finance, Accounting, and IT teams on data definitions, reporting requirements, and system changes.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and automate financial reporting processes to reduce manual effort and improve data accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain standardized templates, data dictionaries, and documentation for reporting workflows.
  • Support adoption of scalable and repeatable reporting practices across the team.
  • Develop interactive dashboards and visual reports using Power BI and Tableau to communicate financial insights.
  • Present findings clearly to diverse audiences including finance teams, senior management, and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Monitor product performance and adoption metrics to drive continuous improvement in prioritization, delivery, and reporting quality.
  • Participate actively in Inspect & Adapt sessions and champion a culture of learning, experimentation, and iterative refinement.
  • Support organizational change management and communication activities related to new reporting capabilities.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree with at least 7 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5–10 years of direct SAFe experience at scale; financial institution experience strongly preferred.
  • Required: SAFe Practice Consultant (SPC); Advanced SPC (ASPC); or SPC Trainer (SPCT) preferred.
  • Preferred additional certifications: SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE), SAFe Agile Product Manager (APM), SAFe Product Owner (PO/PM), Scrum, Kanban.
  • Working knowledge of Azure DevOps at Team and ART levels.
  • Strong facilitation, coaching, and executive communication skills; SAFe Kanban Systems and flow metrics fluency.
  • Proficient in data analysis tools including SQL and Python.
  • Familiar with financial reporting platforms such as SAP, Oracle, Azure Data Lakehouse, or equivalent systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of Power BI, Tableau, or Microsoft Excel for reporting and visualization.
  • Solid understanding of financial accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and financial statement analysis.
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with ability to translate complex data into clear narratives for diverse audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for engaging business stakeholders, end users, Product Manager, System Architect, and Agile team members.
  • Ability to manage competing interests and negotiate trade-offs diplomatically.
  • Skilled in creating, refining, and prioritizing the team backlog with well-defined and ready work.
  • Ability to write actionable user stories with clear acceptance criteria and decompose features and epics.
  • Understanding and communication of product vision, strategy, and roadmap aligned with program-level objectives.
  • Commitment to understanding customer needs and user experience, including user research and feedback gathering.
  • Ability to analyze business requirements, evaluate solution options, and make informed decisions under uncertainty.
  • Working understanding of technical environment, system architecture, and technical constraints.
  • Familiarity with data platforms, data integrations, data models, APIs, and non-functional requirements such as performance, security, and scalability at a conceptual level.
  • Responsible for accepting or rejecting completed work based on acceptance criteria and Definition of Done.
  • Ability to track and interpret Agile metrics and participate in Inspect & Adapt sessions to promote continuous learning and improvement.
