The Programme Associate supports the Programme Team in the development and implementation of programmes consistent with UN Women rules and regulations. The role includes research, financial management, and programme implementation, providing operational, administrative, and programmatic support in close collaboration with operations and programme staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and logistical support to the formulation and management of programmes including preparation of work plans, budgets, proposals, and audit information.
  • Provide administrative support to the financial management of the Programme Unit including creating projects in Quantum system, budget revisions, financial monitoring, and payment processing.
  • Undertake logistical, administrative and financial arrangements for meetings, workshops, events, and missions; make travel arrangements; prepare public information materials and briefing packets.
  • Assist in drafting TORs for recruitment of consultants and managing their payment schedules.
  • Provide administrative support to Resource Mobilization by organizing and processing donor and programme information.
  • Facilitate knowledge building and sharing by supporting synthesis of lessons learnt and organizing training for staff and partners.
  • Perform other duties within functional profile as necessary for efficient functioning of the Office and Organization.

Requirements

  • Completion of secondary education is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or public administration is desirable.
  • At least 6 years of progressively responsible experience in administration or programme management/support is required.
  • Experience in working in a computer environment using multiple office software packages is required.
  • Experience in supporting a team is required.
  • Experience in the use of a modern web-based ERP System, preferably Oracle Cloud, is desirable.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Fluency in Sinhala/Tamil is required.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language is desirable (French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish).
