This internship is located at the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Jakarta, Indonesia, for a period of 6 months maximum. The intern will assist in content planning, development of inter-agency campaigns, amplifying outreach efforts, research, and documentation of communication activities under supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the content planning and development of inter-agency campaigns including social media editorial plans, writing and editing communication materials in Indonesia and in support of UNCTs across Southeast Asia.
  • Assist in amplifying UNIC/UN in Indonesia relevant outreach or campaigns in grassroots youth networks or other key target demographics as well as via partners.
  • Assist in research work and the preparation of concept notes and documents for UNIC-led communication activities in Indonesia and Southeast Asia.
  • Assist in documenting relevant communications/outreach activities – key events, numbers of participants etc. for internal archiving purposes.
  • Perform other related duties, as required.

Requirements

  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications.
  • Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter.
  • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, including willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
  • Fluency in Bahasa or Indonesian and English is required for the internship.
  • Knowledge of other UN official languages or regional languages in Indonesia is desirable.
  • Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master's or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor's, Master's or PH.D. Programme.
  • Ability to use AI tools effectively for research and communication, with an understanding of the general ethical principles guiding the use of AI in public communications.
  • Strong planning, drafting and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and a passion for researching big-picture issues.
  • Experience in consulting, policy work or executive management support is an advantage.
